I've been housebound for many years with M.E.
M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) is the name in the UK for the illness that elsewhere is known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (though there are slight differences between the two). It is a prolonged debilatating disease, the most notable symptoms being: profound fatigue; constant and severe muscle and joint pains; compromised mental ability; insomnia; weakened immune system. There are also dozens of recognised secondary symptoms that stem from these main problems. Some sufferers remain seriously ill, often housebound, for many years.
I'm also gluten intolerant and have included some of my family's favourite gluten-free recipes elsewhere on this site. I now bake all my own cake, biscuits, pies and yorkshire puds.
