Jimmy Edwards

1920 -- 1988

Born James Keith O'Neill, Jimmy Edwards was a much loved radio and TV comic who starred in Take It From Here and as Professor James Edwards in Whack-O.

In the post-war years, Edwards appeared on the London stage, having been a member of the Cambridge Footlights earlier. He went on to radio and TV work as well as appearing with Eric Sykes, Tommy Cooper and Harry Secombe (of The Goon Show) in the films The Plank and Rhubarb.

Having come out in the 1970s, Edwards found it harder to work. He was a staunch Conservative, a lover of fox hunting, brass bands and handlebar mustaches (he was a member of the Handlebar Club).
