Molly Weir
1910 -- 2004
Molly Weir was raised in the tenements of Glasgow by a Mother who loved the pictures. Her daughter caught the acting bug as a child and went on to be a much-loved radio, TV and film performer, as well as a successful writer with a number of volumes of memoirs published from the 1970s.
Molly Weir made her BBC radio debut in 1949 on ITMA and went on to appear as Aggie the young, Scottish housekeeper in Life With the Lyons. She made many films, though never as a leading lady, and appeared in a number of factual as well as comedy and drama programmes on TV. Later, Molly Weir became known to a new generation of youngsters as Hazel McWitch in the BBC children's series Rentaghost.
