Introduction To EFT
EFT may work on some problems the very first time you use it. Some negative emotions, though, will take a little more work. One of the great things about EFT is that you can keep using it for just a few minutes each day until the issue is thoroughly dealt with and cleared from your mind.
Monitoring Improvement With EFT
The easiest way to monitor your improvement is by using Subjective Unit of Disturbance numbers. This is as simple as grading your current discomfort with the emotion, belief or issue on a scale of one to ten, where one is a minimum of discomfort and ten is the maximum.
So, before you try your first round of tapping on any given negative emotion, grade your discomfort on a scale of one to ten. Make a note of this. Complete one round of tapping, give yourself a few minutes to relax afterwards, then grade the discomfort again. If you feel that more work needs to be done, keep grading, tapping, then grading again over a few days until you're confident that the issue is dealt with and the negative emotion is gone.
It's important that you get your SUD down to zero; don't leave all of your issues at three or four. They may be tolerable at that level but you're just storing up mid-range negativity that you could eradicate with a little more tapping. It's best to deal with one emotion, belief or issue at a time. Get it completely out of your life, feel good about that, then move on to whatever else is troubling you.
