Introduction To EFT

EFT is based on acupressure. The acupressure points don't require a firm touch, just a gentle tapping. It's best to use two fingers for the facial points; your clasped fist for the collar bone; the flat of your hand for under the arm; back to two fingers for the finger points; and three fingers for the Karate Chop. This way you know you're hitting the right spot without having to be too exact.

Tapping Your Troubles Away

EFT requires just a little more than the tapping. You need to reinforce the purpose of the tapping to rid yourself of the negative emotions that are causing you mental or physical pain. To do this, you need a short reminder phrase -- a few words that express the gist of the statement you've already made.

In our example of arachnaphobia, your reminder phrase might be :

  • My fear of spiders.

Now, repeat that phrase as you begin to tap each point. The actual tapping is as simple as seven to ten gentle taps to each point. Start with the eyebrow, say your reminder phrase, tap the point -- move on to the side of the eye, say your reminder phrase, tap the point -- move on to...

When you have completed the tapping, take a deep breath.

That's how simple EFT is.

There's only one more thing you might need to think about -- how successful has each tapping been?
