Introduction To EFT

Before you can heal, you must identify the problem. Each round of EFT tapping begins with a clear statement of the negative emotion, the common (mis)belief or physical symptom that you wish to heal. This is stated three times while rubbing on what is known as the Sore Spot. The Sore Spot is a point on your chest, just off-centre and a little below your collar bone, that is slightly uncomfortable to the touch.

Vocalising The Negative Emotion

As an example, let's take the fear of spiders. To begin treating this phobia, you would start with this statement :

  • Even though I am terrified of spiders, I still deeply and completely love and accept myself.

It's best to make this statement out loud in a good strong voice (at least while you start out using EFT) so that you focus completely on it. Keep rubbing the Sore Spot as you repeat the statement three times.

When you have completed this stage, it's time to move on to the actual tapping.
