cem. (abbr) : cemetery.

cemetery records : records kept by the cemetery caretaker.

census records : a census is an official count and record of the population in a particular area.

chr. (abbr) : christened.

church records : formal documents kept by each church.

civ. (abbr) : civil

circa, c or ca (abbr) : Latin for around or approxiamately.

civil law : laws pertaining to private matters.

codicil : supplement or addition to a will.

collateral line : non-direct line descent of people with a common ancestor (see consanguinity).

conf. (abbr) : confirmed.

consanguinity : the degree of relationship between persons who descend from a common ancestor.

comm. (abbr) : communion, communicant.

consort : wife, husband, spouse, mate, companion.

conveyance : legal document to transfer the ownership of property.
