dau. (abbr) : daughter.
deed : document transfering ownership of property.
devise : gift of land or property in a last will and testament.
devisee : the person receiving land or property in a last will.
devisor : person giving land or real property in a last will.
direct line : line of decent traced through persons who are related to one another as a child and parent.

: collections of information on a specific topic.
dissenter : name given a person who refused to belong to the established Church of England.
div. (abbr) : divorced.
double date
: Julian and Gregorian dates.
dowager : widow holding property or a title received from her deceased husband.
dower : legal provision of real estate and support made to the widow for her lifetime.
dowry or dowery : gift given by the bride's family to a prospective husband before marriage.
