secondary evidence : supporting evidence, perhaps lacking in the validity of primary evidence.

: records, etc from later than the time period discussed.
serv. (abbr) : servant.
sibling : a brother or sister.
sic : indicates a possible mistake in the original.
soc. (abbr) : society
soundex : phoenetic indexing system.
source : the document, etc used to proof fact.
sponsor
: an individual other than the parents of a child who takes responsibility for that child.
St. (abbr) : saint; street.
statute : a law.
step : used in conjunction with a degree of kinship. EG step-mother, step-father, step-son.
surg. (abbr) : surgeon
surname, srnm. (abbr) : last name, family name.
