Welcome to my Ukulele site
This little (but growing) site is dedicated to the Ukulele (sometimes the Ukelele). The Uke is a small, easy to learn instrument. It must be easy -- I can play it! Well, I can strum along and that's largely what the Ukulele is about.
I'd always wanted to play a musical instrument but had thought I had zero musical talent. Plus, due to ME [CFS], my hands and fingers weren't working too well and I wanted to find something that would help me to get some movement/strength in them. Enter the Ukulele; great fun, easy to learn and good for your fingers. I love it, though I still don't claim to have any musical talent :-)
In these pages you'll find a bit about getting started (tuning, strumming and chords) and some songs to practice with. There's also a brief history of the Ukulele, some recommended books/DVDs and links to other Uke-related sites, plus a few Uke solos and an explanation of tablature. I've now added a little Ukulele app (for Mac OS X) that I wrote to illustrate Uke chords.
A Note About This Site
I'm not an expert and I'm certainly no musical genius! The content of this site is based entirely on my own (limited) personal experience. It's meant to be nothing more than a friendly introduction to playing the Uke from one newbie to another. If you find any major gaffs, please do let me know but don't bother telling me that this isn't the “proper” way to learn -- I already know that.
