Lesson Five - Some Lemons

5-lemons-s

Try to use lemons that are a little under-ripe; these have a greenish tinge. Lay a wash of pure yellow or aureoline over the whole drawing. Add in the shaded areas using a little crimson with more French blue. Be careful to keep the shading in the correct areas; don't let the paint run too far. Lift out the lighter areas with a dry brush. Paint in the shadow cast by one lemon on the other and the shadow on the surface. Use crimson, French blue and aureoline as usual but drop in more of the yellow for the reflected color from the lemons.
