Advice On Colour

A few half-pans of colour are all a beginner really needs. Half-pans are small blocks of colour and are available in less expensive "student" quality.

You can buy beginners kits with paints (usually a dozen), brush and palette all in one handy case. Alternatively, you could purchase only half a dozen colours and still paint all of the examples give on this site.

Those colours are :

  1. Prussian Blue or Phthalo Blue
  2. French Blue
  3. Crimson
  4. Burnt Sienna
  5. Yellow Ochre
  6. Pale Cadmium or Aureoline

From this selection you can mix any colour you need and, with so few, you'll keep your painting simple.
