NUT LAYER CAKE. A delicious cake can be made by adding nuts to the cake mixture given in the following recipe. This is baked in layers and then iced in any desired way.

• 1/2 c. butter
• 1-1/2 c. sugar
• 3 eggs
• 3 c. flour
• 5 tsp. baking powder
• 1-1/4 c. milk
• 3/4 c. chopped nuts
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the butter and add the sugar gradually. Beat the eggs and add them. Sift the flour and baking powder together, and add the milk and the dry ingredients alternately. Fold in the chopped nuts, add the vanilla, pour into layer-cake pans, and bake.
